Thinking Day is particularly important in Girl Guiding. It takes place towards the end of February, and has a particular focus on raising awareness of Guiding in the rest of the world. It can also be an occasion for the girls to renew their promises. Here is a sample service for Thinking Day: Buckden Family Communion for Thinking Day (2014) – we also celebrated Fairtrade Fortnight at the same service.
It is a Common Worship all age Eucharist, which the local girls’ uniformed organisations and their leaders had helped to plan, and which they helped to lead on the day. The songs on page two were written by a music minister from the church, and the copyright for them belongs to him.
If your thinking day service is Eucharistic, you might like this short preface, for use with Additional Eucharistic Prayer Two:
You give us opportunities to learn and share,
and grow in kindness and humanity,
united with our sisters [and brothers] across the world.
